Saudi-Iraqi Partnership Unveils AI Platform for Kurdish Languages

Saudi artificial intelligence company OmniOps and Iraqi telecommunications provider Newroz Telecom have introduced a new Kurdish AI platform designed to expand artificial intelligence services across the Kurdistan Region and northern Iraq. The initiative supports multiple Kurdish dialects while promoting locally hosted AI technology. It also represents a major step in Iraq’s growing digital transformation.

The platform, known as KI, is the result of a partnership between the Saudi technology firm and the Erbil-based telecom operator. Developers built the system using OmniOps’ Bunyan AI infrastructure. The companies host the platform inside Newroz Telecom’s local data centers in Iraq.

The new service supports Sorani, Badini, and Kurmanji, three of the most widely spoken Kurdish dialects. It also operates in Arabic and English, allowing a broader range of users to access AI-powered services. This multilingual approach addresses the limited availability of advanced AI tools in Kurdish languages.

The launch marks one of the first large-scale AI solutions created specifically for Kurdish-speaking communities in Iraq. Individuals, businesses, educational institutions, and government organizations can now interact with artificial intelligence using their preferred language. The platform aims to make advanced digital technologies more accessible throughout the region.

A key feature of the Kurdish AI platform is its local data processing capability. Instead of relying on overseas servers, the system analyzes and stores data within Iraq through Newroz Telecom’s infrastructure. This approach strengthens data privacy, improves service reliability, and helps organizations comply with local regulations.

Local hosting also reduces delays in processing information while improving system performance. Businesses and public institutions can benefit from faster response times and greater control over sensitive information. These advantages are becoming increasingly important as Iraq expands its digital economy.

The partnership reflects broader efforts to strengthen Iraq’s technology sector. Regional authorities have encouraged investment in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and innovation to diversify the economy beyond traditional industries. Projects such as KI support those long-term development goals while encouraging local technology adoption.

The platform may also create new opportunities for education and research. Students, universities, and technology developers can use AI tools in Kurdish languages without relying exclusively on foreign-language systems. This accessibility could encourage wider participation in digital learning and innovation.

Although KI primarily serves Kurdish-speaking users, its Arabic and English capabilities extend its usefulness across Iraq. Organizations operating nationwide can integrate the platform into customer service, education, business operations, and other digital applications. Its multilingual design increases flexibility for both public and private sectors.

Technology experts view the project as an important milestone for Iraq’s digital future. The collaboration between Saudi and Iraqi companies demonstrates growing regional cooperation in advanced technologies. It also highlights increasing investment in locally developed digital solutions.

The launch of the Kurdish AI platform signals a new chapter for artificial intelligence in Iraq. By combining multilingual support with secure local infrastructure, the initiative strengthens digital innovation while expanding AI access for millions of users across the country.
