Iraq Strengthens Digital Infrastructure Through New Technology Partnership

Iraq digital infrastructure received a major boost after Uptime Institute and Iraqi technology company T964 announced a strategic partnership to support the country’s growing digital economy. The agreement aims to improve data center standards, expand technical expertise, and strengthen modern digital services across Iraq. Officials view the partnership as another step toward attracting technology investment and reducing reliance on oil revenues. The initiative also supports Iraq’s long-term digital transformation strategy.

The partnership was announced after both organizations signed an agreement during the US-Iraq Business Summit held earlier this month in Washington. Under the deal, T964 will serve as Uptime Institute’s business partner in Iraq. Together, they will promote internationally recognized standards for data centers while supporting professional training and technical development. The collaboration seeks to improve the quality and reliability of Iraq’s digital infrastructure.

The agreement forms part of Iraq’s broader strategy to diversify its economy through technology and innovation. Government officials continue encouraging investment in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, financial technology, cybersecurity, and advanced communications. Expanding these sectors could create new economic opportunities while supporting private-sector growth. Technology development remains a key priority for Iraq’s future economy.

T964 plans to work closely with Uptime Institute to introduce global best practices across Iraq’s expanding network of data centers. The partnership will also strengthen technical skills and improve operational standards within the sector. Officials believe internationally recognized certifications will increase confidence among investors and technology companies. Better infrastructure could also support long-term digital growth.

The project includes plans to develop carrier-neutral data centers, modern telecommunications infrastructure, cloud computing services, and platforms capable of supporting artificial intelligence applications. These investments will improve digital services while providing stronger technology infrastructure for businesses and government institutions. Modern data centers also play an essential role in supporting secure digital operations.

The partnership follows a series of agreements announced during Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s recent visit to the United States. During the visit, Iraq signed more than 50 agreements across energy, banking, infrastructure, industry, and technology. The combined value of those agreements exceeded $60 billion, reflecting growing international interest in Iraq’s economic development. Technology projects formed an important part of the broader investment program.

Officials continue identifying Iraq digital infrastructure as a cornerstone of the country’s long-term development plans. Strong digital networks will support e-government services, digital banking, e-commerce platforms, and advanced artificial intelligence technologies. Improved connectivity could also attract more international technology companies to Iraq. Expanding digital capabilities remains essential for building a knowledge-based economy.

Growing demand for secure data centers and cloud services across the Middle East has also increased private-sector interest in Iraq’s technology market. Government leaders believe continued investment will strengthen Iraq’s position as an emerging regional technology hub. As new partnerships develop, Iraq digital infrastructure will continue supporting innovation, economic diversification, and sustainable long-term growth.
