Iraq has launched a major digital healthcare initiative with the Dhamani Platform. The Ministry of Health announced the rollout alongside the Digital Center for Health Insurance Services. However, This step marks a significant move toward digitizing medical services under Iraq’s Health Insurance Law. Therefore, citizens can now manage health coverage more efficiently and transparently.
The Dhamani Platform allows registered Iraqis to sign up, update their personal data, and access medical services online. Each citizen receives a smart magnetic card containing a full electronic medical record. The card stores patient history, diagnoses, medications, and lab test results.As a result, doctors and patients can track health information in real time.
Officials described this launch as the first phase of full healthcare automation in Iraq. In addition, Minister of Health Saleh Al-Hasnawi emphasized that the system will improve efficiency, transparency, and continuity of care across public health services. as well as, The digital approach also reduces paperwork and speeds up administrative processes.
The Health Insurance Fund plans to cover three million citizens in 2026. Baghdad will begin the rollout with one million residents. Nine other provinces will follow, covering two million people based on population distribution.As well as,The electronic system will be gradually implemented in the capital and fully across other provinces. Beneficiaries will receive biometric cards to access services efficiently.

He added that the platform will strengthen coordination among medical staff and insurance authorities.
