The federal model places licensing and telecommunications oversight under the independent Communications and Media Commission. Sanad also plans to visit Erbil for official discussions with regional authorities. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani previously extended an invitation to the minister. The invitation received renewed attention during a recent visit by the regional Transport and Communications Minister to Baghdad.
The upcoming meetings could shape the next stage of Iraq’s telecommunications development. Officials plan to discuss cross-border fiber traffic and telecommunications licensing. They also aim to establish joint technical committees for spectrum readiness.
