Tehran/Baghdad – Cross-border commerce expands as Iran Khuzestan trade rises strongly with Iraq. New figures show higher export activity and growing customs revenue. As a result, trade ties between the two neighbors continue to strengthen.
Official data shows that Khuzestan Province exported about 221,000 tons of goods to Iraq. These shipments reached a total value of $60.8 million in a single month. Therefore, Iran Khuzestan trade rises as demand from Iraq continues to grow.
Moreover, import activity in the same period reached much higher levels. Authorities recorded 874,000 tons of imports worth $360 million. This figure highlights strong regional trade flows. In addition, customs revenue increased by 409 percent compared to last year. As a result, government income from trade expanded significantly.
Furthermore, officials reported rising transit activity across border routes. Customs authorities processed 30 clearance declarations covering 2,438 tons of goods. At the same time, they recorded 279 transit filings totaling 36,200 tons. Consequently, logistics operations continue to expand across key crossings.
In addition, Iran Khuzestan trade rises due to strong demand from Iraqi markets. Businesses in Iraq rely on imported materials for construction, food, and industrial use. Therefore, cross-border supply chains play a key economic role for both sides.
Meanwhile, improved customs procedures help speed up trade movement. Faster clearance reduces delays and supports higher shipment volumes. As a result, transport companies operate more efficiently across the border.
