TIR convoy enhances commerce efficiency in Iraq

A TIR convoy enhances commerce efficiency in Iraq as trucks successfully crossed the country from Turkey to Jordan. The convoy delivered an eight-truck shipment to Amman in less than five days, showing the speed and reliability of this route.

The shipment began in Gaziantep, Turkey, and traveled across Iraq before reaching Jordan. The Turkish operator DMN Lojistik managed the transport under the International Road Transport (TIR) system. This success proves that TIR convoy enhances commerce efficiency in Iraq and supports regional trade.

Earlier this year, the TIR transit system became fully operational in Iraq. Since then, many transport companies have chosen this route instead of sea or multi-modal shipping. Operators praise the system because it reduces both costs and delivery times.

By using Iraq as a transit corridor, companies gain faster access to markets in the Middle East. The TIR system saves time compared with marine transport, where ships often need 14 days to cross the Red Sea or up to 26 days to go around Africa. In contrast, trucks moving through Iraq can complete the journey in less than a week.

The system also ensures safer trade through customs supervision. Goods remain sealed in load compartments while traveling across borders, reducing delays and risks. This method builds confidence among transport companies and strengthens Iraq’s role in global trade.

A TIR convoy enhances commerce efficiency in Iraq while supporting the country’s Development Road project. This project aims to connect southern Iraq with the north and extend trade links to Turkey, the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Asia, and Europe. The new road system will turn Iraq into a central hub for international logistics.

Iraq now positions itself as a vital trade corridor that links major economies. The growing use of the TIR system shows how the country can support both speed and security in transport. It also helps Iraq prove its importance in the regional economy.

For logistics firms, the system brings efficiency and stability. For Iraq, it marks a step toward transforming into a global commercial gateway.
