KBR Renews EPCM Contract for Majnoon Oil Field, Deepens Role in Iraq’s Energy Sector

KBR’s strategic partnership in Iraq’s oil sector continues to grow. The company has renewed its EPCM contract with the Basra Oil Company (BOC) for the Majnoon oil field, extending the agreement for two more years.

This renewal allows KBR to continue delivering engineering, procurement, and construction management services. These services support Iraq’s production goals, improve efficiency, and raise safety standards. Additionally, the contract focuses on increasing local workforce participation, which strengthens national capacity.

Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, welcomed the extension. He said KBR remains committed to advancing the sustainable development of the Majnoon field. According to him, the site is a national energy asset with long-term value.

Likewise, Kadhim Kareem, CEO of the Majnoon Field at BOC, praised KBR’s role. He confirmed the company as a strategic partner in delivering safe and efficient projects. These projects, he noted, are vital for the long-term successof the field.

The Majnoon oil field, located in southern Iraq, plays a central role in Iraq’s energy strategy. It contributes heavily to both domestic supply and exports. Therefore, its development is essential to the country’s economic future.

Just days earlier, KBR secured another important contract. The company won a front-end engineering design (FEED)project from KAR Electrical Power Production Trading FZE (KEPPT). This project will support the construction of a large fertilizer facility in Basra.

With these projects, KBR is expanding its influence across Iraq’s energy and industrial sectors. Its efforts not only support infrastructure development but also create local jobs and build technical skills.

In conclusion, KBR’s strategic partnership in Iraq’s oil sector highlights the country’s focus on reliable global partnerships. Through continued cooperation, Iraq aims to modernize its oil operations and diversify its industrial base. KBR will keep helping Iraq with a big oil field and will also help build a new fertilizer plant in Basra.
