Iraq Investment Forum to Feature 141 Pre-Approved Investment Projects

Iraq will hold its first-ever Iraq Investment Forum in Baghdad, showcasing 141 pre-approved projects ready for investors. The event, led by the National Investment Commission (NIC), will take place under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister’s Office and in collaboration with the Iraqi Economic Council.

NIC Head Haider Makiya confirmed that the forum aims to speed up Iraq’s economic development. These projects are fully approved and available for immediate implementation. They span multiple sectors such as industry, housing, renewable energy, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.

The Iraq Investment Forum targets both local and international investors. Organizers expect over 300 participants, including companies and representatives from various countries. This makes the forum a key platform to connect Iraq with global expertise and funding.

According to Makiya, the forum represents a strategic shift in Iraq’s approach to foreign investment. Rather than vague proposals, the NIC has prepared detailed project packages. These come with clear approvals, locations, and feasibility studies.

Iraq wants to attract investors not only with big returns but also with real chances to help rebuild and modernize the nation. This aligns with the broader economic reform strategy guided by the government’s Investment Law.

The NIC plans to use this event to restore investor confidence and attract high-impact capital. Many projects will support key infrastructure development and generate jobs for Iraqis. By including sectors like housing and agriculture, the plan also touches the daily lives of Iraqi citizens.

Furthermore, Iraq wants to promote renewable energy and digital infrastructure to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. This makes the Iraq Investment Forum a milestone for long-term sustainability and regional competitiveness.

The forum will also offer space for networking, panel discussions, and one-on-one meetings. The NIC believes these interactions will help turn discussions into signed agreements.

With careful planning and international participation, Iraq aims to transform this event into a recurring platform. It will highlight Iraq as a serious destination for investment and innovation.
