Eni Iraq oil production recorded new growth in 2025 as the Italian energy company expanded output from its operations in southern Iraq. The increase reflects Iraq’s continued importance in Eni’s global energy portfolio and highlights the strategic role of the Zubair oil field in the country’s petroleum sector.
According to Eni’s annual report, the company produced around 11 million barrels of oil and 30 billion cubic feet of natural gas in Iraq during 2025. Combined production reached the equivalent of nearly 17 million barrels of oil. The figures marked an increase compared with previous years.
Eni’s operations in Iraq produced the equivalent of 15 million barrels in 2024 and 14 million barrels in 2023. The latest results show steady annual growth as the company continues expanding activities in Iraq’s southern energy sector.
The Eni Iraq oil production increase also contributed to the company’s broader global performance. Eni reported total worldwide production of 631 million barrels of oil during 2025. That figure rose from 625 million barrels in 2024 and 604 million barrels in 2023.
Company data showed a seven percent annual increase in oil production across Eni’s international operations. The company continues investing in upstream energy projects while maintaining strong production levels in several regions, including the Middle East and Africa.
Eni has operated in Iraq since 2009 through agreements with the Iraqi government. The company manages the Zubair oil field in Basra Governorate, one of Iraq’s largest and most important oil-producing areas. The field remains a key source of crude production for the country’s energy sector.
The Zubair field currently contributes around nine percent of Iraq’s daily oil output. Energy officials consider the field a major pillar of Iraq’s petroleum industry because of its large reserves and long-term production potential.
Analysts expect Eni Iraq oil production to continue for decades under current development plans. Economic estimates indicate that operations at the Zubair field could remain commercially viable until 2047. The long production timeline strengthens Iraq’s position as a major global oil supplier.
Iraq continues depending heavily on oil revenues to support government spending and economic development. International companies like Eni play an important role in maintaining production capacity and supporting energy infrastructure projects across the country.
Energy experts believe stable cooperation between Iraq and foreign companies remains essential for future growth in the oil sector. Iraq aims to increase efficiency, attract additional investment, and improve long-term energy production through partnerships with major international firms.
The latest production figures also highlight Iraq’s continued importance in global energy markets. Despite regional tensions and export challenges, the country remains one of the world’s leading oil producers and a critical supplier for international markets.
