Iraq supports entrepreneurship through Baghdad Bridge program as part of a major effort to boost innovation and jobs. The initiative took place in Saudi Arabia and brought together dozens of companies from Iraq and the region. The Government Communication Team confirmed the country’s participation and stressed its importance for young entrepreneurs.
Ammar Munim, head of the Government Communication Team, represented Iraq in the event. He joined more than 35 small and medium companies in showcasing projects and ideas. Organizers explained that the Baghdad Bridge program is a result of cooperation between several international partners. These include the Capita Foundation for Entrepreneurship in Iraq, the Dutch government, the Riyada Center for Digital Business in Saudi Arabia, and Digital Zone, along with the Saudi VMS Company.
The program focused on important sectors that drive modern economies. These included logistics, financial technology, digital health, and agricultural technology. Participants presented their products and services to Saudi and regional investors. This direct contact gave Iraqi startups the chance to expand their markets and attract valuable investment.
Moreover, Munim emphasized that the goal extends beyond presentations. He explained that Iraq supports entrepreneurship through Baghdad Bridge program to exchange knowledge and share experiences. By connecting Iraqi companies with venture capital funds, the program strengthens the role of innovation and digital transformation in the country’s economy.
Capita Director Mujahid Weissi also highlighted the value of this cooperation. He described the event as a bridge between the private sectors of Iraq and Saudi Arabia. While trade between the two countries already shows progress, he noted that the startup sector still needs stronger ties. The program creates a pathway for this development.
In addition, Weissi pointed out the opportunities for both markets. However, he explained that Saudi companies can enter the Iraqi market, which continues to grow and demand new solutions. At the same time, Iraqi startups can use Saudi Arabia as a gateway to global markets. This two-way exchange reflects the shared benefits of closer cooperation.
Through this initiative, Iraq continues to encourage its youth and private sector to engage with global business. With new connections, growing support, and expanding networks, the country is moving toward sustainable development. Iraq supports entrepreneurship through Baghdad Bridge program not only to fight unemployment but also to reduce poverty and build a stronger economy.
