Iraq signed a new deal with DIL Technology to boost international communication networks and digital infrastructure. The agreement aims to create a unified transit corridor stretching from Al-Faw in the south to Ibrahim Al-Khalil in the north.
The Ministry of Communications led this move with full support from Minister Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri. This initiative will position Iraq as a vital bridge between global communication routes. It also supports the country’s long-term goal to build a strong, stable digital economy.
This new DIL Technology deal marks a major milestone for Iraq. It is the first partnership of its kind for the ministry. The General Company for Communications and Informatics signed the contract directly with DIL Technology, highlighting strong cooperation.
Notably, the DIL Technology deal supports Iraq’s ambition to become a global data hub. The corridor will offer a faster and safer land-based route for internet traffic between Asia and Europe. Unlike undersea cables, this land route reduces risks from natural disasters or accidental breaks.
Additionally, Iraq will benefit from significant revenue through data transit fees. This project will also attract more international investment, especially in the technology sector. As a result, the country’s economy will gain momentum and diversify beyond oil.
The infrastructure will rely on cutting-edge fiber-optic networks. These advanced systems will deliver faster internet for Iraqi users and regional clients. Moreover, the route will serve as a backup for existing global data paths, improving reliability.
Officials confirmed the DIL Technology deal will create hundreds of local jobs. Engineers, technicians, and planners will all take part in building this project. Therefore, Iraq’s workforce will gain valuable experience in advanced tech fields.
Furthermore, the corridor will strengthen Iraq’s position in global telecom markets. More nations now look for safer, more efficient routes for data transfer. Iraq is prepared to meet this demand.
Government leaders plan to monitor progress closely. They expect all work to finish on time with high-quality results. This project shows Iraq’s commitment to joining the digital age and leading regional innovation.
