Gold Market Cools as Baghdad and Erbil Traders Report Lower Prices

Gold prices in Baghdad and Erbil showed a mild decline on Sunday as local markets recorded softer rates. Traders in both cities observed a small drop after recent price movements. The latest figures showed changes across different gold types and qualities.

Market activity in Baghdad’s Al-Nahr Street reflected the shift. Dealers listed 21-carat gold from Gulf, Turkish, and European sources at 856,000 Iraqi dinars per mithqal. The buying rate reached 852,000 dinars, while Saturday’s selling price stood at 862,000 dinars.

The mithqal represents five grams of gold in local market calculations. Meanwhile, Iraqi 21-carat gold continued to trade below imported varieties. Sellers offered Iraqi gold at 826,000 dinars per mithqal, while buyers paid around 822,000 dinars.

Jewelry shops in Baghdad also reported varied prices during the day. Gulf 21-carat gold moved between 855,000 and 865,000 dinars. Iraqi gold remained lower, with prices ranging from 825,000 to 835,000 dinars.

In Erbil markets, traders reported higher rates for some gold categories. Twenty-two-carat gold reached 908,000 dinars per mithqal. At the same time, 21-carat gold traded near 867,000 dinars, while 18-carat gold reached 744,000 dinars.

Gold prices in Baghdad and Erbil continued to attract attention from buyers and investors. Many customers watched the market closely before making purchases. Traders said daily movements depend on international gold trends and currency conditions.

Local gold sellers usually adjust prices based on several factors. Global bullion prices influence local costs and market expectations. Exchange rate changes also affect the final prices offered to customers.

The latest decline created mixed reactions among shoppers. Some buyers viewed the lower rates as an opportunity. Others preferred to wait for clearer market signals before purchasing.

Gold remains a popular investment choice across Iraq. Families often buy jewelry during important occasions and celebrations. Investors also follow gold prices as a way to preserve value.

Gold prices in Baghdad and Erbil may continue changing as global markets move. Local traders will keep monitoring international developments. Customers are expected to follow daily updates before making decisions.
