Iraq oil exports in focus again, as the country ranked fifth among the top crude oil exporters to the United States last week. According to the latest update, Iraq sent 141,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil to the US, placing it behind four other major suppliers. Although this marks a drop from the previous week, Iraq oil exports in focus continue to play a key role in global energy flows.
The total US crude oil imports from ten leading exporters reached 5.093 million bpd. This marked an increase of 262,000 bpd compared to the previous week’s figure of 4.831 million bpd. The rise in overall imports highlights the continued US demand for foreign oil despite growing domestic production.
Canada remains the top crude oil supplier to the US. Last week, Canada exported an average of 3.386 million bpd to American markets. Following Canada, Mexico came in second with 369,000 bpd. Nigeria ranked third by supplying 276,000 bpd, and Saudi Arabia claimed the fourth spot with 152,000 bpd. Iraq landed in fifth position, underlining the country’s consistent presence in the US market, even amid week-to-week fluctuations.
Though Iraq’s current supply to the US decreased from 170,000 bpd to 141,000 bpd, its position among top exporters stayed solid. Iraq oil exports in focus show the country’s continued role as a critical oil supplier, even if short-term volumes vary.
In addition to the top five, other exporters contributed notable volumes. The US imported 117,000 bpd from Colombia and 115,000 bpd from Venezuela. Brazil followed with 99,000 bpd, while Ecuador and Libya exported 82,000 bpd and 56,000 bpd, respectively. These figures reflect a diverse pool of suppliers that the US relies on for energy security and market flexibility.
Despite the slight decline in Iraq’s numbers, experts view it as a routine shift. Export volumes often fluctuate weekly due to shipping schedules, weather conditions, or refinery demand. Still, Iraq oil exports in focus continue to reflect the country’s stable export capacity and strategic role in the global oil economy.
