Iraq Raises Oil Output to 100,000 BPD at Nasiriyah and Saba Fields

Iraq oil production has seen a major increase at the Nasiriyah and Saba fields. The Ministry of Oil announced that output has reached a combined 100,000 barrels per day (bpd). This milestone marks the first phase of a larger, integrated development plan for the energy sector.

According to Saeed Zghair Shallagha, Director General of Dhi Qar Oil Company (DQOC), this production boost came after three months of intense effort. The work was led by national engineering and technical teams who focused on efficiency and results.

Specifically, the Nasiriyah oil field saw a sharp rise in output. Production jumped from 52,000 bpd to 70,000 bpd. This growth followed the integration of seven newly drilled wells, which were completed on schedule. These additions played a crucial role in achieving the new target.

Meanwhile, the Saba field, also located in the southern Dhi Qar province, experienced an even steeper increase. Output there soared from just 8,500 bpd to 30,000 bpd in a short time. This rapid success highlights the strong performance of Iraq’s local oil workforce.

This expansion is not just a technical achievement but also a strategic step in Iraq’s national energy goals. By increasing oil production at home, Iraq aims to boost revenue, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen its presence in global energy markets.

Moreover, this success demonstrates the capabilities of Iraq’s engineering teams. Their dedication, combined with careful planning, shows that local talent can achieve international standards in oil field development.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Oil plans to continue expanding output in phases. Each step will build on this progress, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.

In conclusion, the rise in Iraq oil production at the Nasiriyah and Saba fields reflects the country’s commitment to growing its energy sector. With continued investment and skilled teams, Iraq is well-positioned for future development.
