The Iraqi Ministry of Transport has announced progress in the Development Road project, with three governorates—Muthanna, Karbala, and Salah al-Din—expressing full readiness to commence work on the first section. Their advantage lies in the absence of expropriation issues or conflicts that could delay implementation.
According to Transport Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, the project will be executed in multiple sections rather than following a rigid geographical sequence. This approach allows specialized companies to begin work on any prepared section as soon as its requirements are met, ensuring a more flexible and efficient construction process.
The cooperation from local authorities is expected to accelerate progress, with the project promising significant economic benefits. In addition to strengthening Iraq’s transport infrastructure, the initiative will create substantial job opportunities through freight transport stations and supporting infrastructure.
By adopting a non-traditional phased approach, the Development Road project aims to enhance Iraq’s connectivity and economic growth while ensuring timely and efficient execution.
