Iraq Leads Turkish Imports of Grains and Legumes in February

The Turkish Ministry of Trade and Industry announced on Sunday that Iraq ranked first in importing grains, legumes, and related products from Turkey in February. According to the ministry’s statistics, Iraq topped the list of countries importing essential food products from Turkey.

In February, Turkey earned $1.2 billion from exports of key food products. These included wheat flour, vegetable oils, pasta, biscuits, sugary goods, and cocoa. The ministry noted that exports of these products increased by 2% compared to the same period last year.

The top importers of Turkish food products are Iraq, followed by the United States, and then Syria. Interestingly, African countries ranked second among the largest importers, after those in the Middle East region.

Turkey’s continued growth in food exports demonstrates the strong demand for essential products like wheat, oils, and processed foods. Iraq’s position as the top importer reflects the country’s reliance on Turkish food imports to meet its domestic needs.

The Turkish government has focused on expanding its food exports, seeing a steady increase in demand. In addition to Iraq, countries in the Middle East and Africa are vital markets for Turkey’s food products.

This trend underlines Turkey’s growing role as a major food supplier to its neighboring regions. The increase in exports also highlights the strength of Turkey’s food industry and its ability to meet regional demands for staple goods.

In conclusion, Iraq’s position as the top importer of Turkish food products emphasizes the importance of trade between the two countries. With rising exports, Turkey continues to strengthen its presence in global food markets, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
