Iraq Leads OPEC in US Oil Exports for April

Iraq leads OPEC in oil exports to the US, sending more than 6.9 million barrels in April. The United States imported over 30 million barrels of crude oil from OPEC nations during that month.

According to the US Energy Information Administration, Iraq ranked first among OPEC suppliers. Nigeria followed closely, exporting 6.8 million barrels. Saudi Arabia took third place, shipping 6.2 million barrels of crude to American buyers.

Iraq leads OPEC not only in volume but also in consistency. Month after month, Iraq maintains strong oil trade with the United States. This continued export strength boosts Iraq’s oil revenue and deepens economic ties with Washington.

Meanwhile, Venezuela exported 5.2 million barrels, landing in fourth place. The United Arab Emirates followed with nearly 2 million barrels. Libya and Algeria contributed over 1 million barrels each. Kuwait’s exports remained lower at 426,000 barrels.

OPEC countries like Congo, Iran, and Gabon recorded no oil exports to the US in April. This trend shows how US import preferences can shift between regions and producers.

Iraq leads OPEC partly due to its production stability. Despite global market fluctuations, Iraq continues to meet demand and deliver steady crude shipments. This reliability has made Iraq a preferred supplier for US refiners.

US refineries rely on diverse crude sources to ensure balance in their input blends. OPEC’s role in this equation remains significant, especially when non-OPEC production faces disruptions or slowdowns.

Iraq’s position also reflects broader trade patterns. As energy needs shift and climate policies tighten, the balance of global oil flows may keep evolving. Yet, Iraq’s role as a major crude exporter remains unchanged.

Looking ahead, Iraq could boost its position further by upgrading export terminals and refining operations. The country is also working to secure long-term contracts with international buyers.

In summary, Iraq leads OPEC in US oil exports, reaffirming its vital role in global energy trade.
