Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani supervised the signing of a key principles agreement between Iraq’s Ministry of Oil and US energy giant Chevron. The deal marks a major step toward Iraq Chevron oil projects that will boost exploration and production in the country.

The agreement includes the Nasiriyah Project, which contains four exploration blocks. It also covers the development of the Balad oil field and other producing fields. These projects are expected to expand Iraq’s oil capacity and strengthen its position in global markets.

During his meeting with Chevron Vice President Frank Mount, Al-Sudani welcomed the company’s return to Iraq. He pointed out that the government now follows a new policy for working with large international energy firms. Special focus goes to American companies that bring experience, advanced technology, and proven achievements.

The Prime Minister praised Chevron for its record in technology transfer and community contributions. He also noted the company’s respect for environmentally responsible practices. According to Al-Sudani, such qualities make Chevron a trusted partner for Iraq’s future development.

In his remarks, Al-Sudani underlined Iraq’s strategic ties with the United States. He explained that the government aims to attract more foreign investment while raising oil production and refining. He also highlighted projects to develop natural and associated gas, which remain vital for power generation. Modern technologies, he added, will play an important role in achieving these goals.

For his part, Frank Mount confirmed Chevron’s strong interest in a long-term partnership. He stressed that Iraq offers both natural resources and skilled human capacity. He also praised the improved security conditions in the country. Mount assured that Chevron plans to bring international expertise and modern solutions to support Iraq’s energy sector.

The Iraq Chevron oil projects highlight the importance of cooperation between Baghdad and international firms. With advanced technology, foreign investment, and stronger partnerships, Iraq seeks to build a more reliable and diversified energy future.
