Iraq Boosts Oil Sector with New Oil Services Centre in Basra

Iraq has launched a New Oil Services Centre in Basra to strengthen its oil industry. This project is a joint effort between Basra Oil Company, Arab Well Logging and Oil Services Company, and Gilgamesh Oil Services. The Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, officially opened the centre and praised its importance for Iraq’s energy future.

Additionally, During the launch event, the Minister called the centre a major step toward energy independence. He said the goal is to reduce reliance on foreign services and grow local capabilities. The New Oil Services Centre will help achieve that by supporting the country’s oil production through upgraded tools, skilled workers, and improved operations.

Therefore, the facility in Basra will focus on training technical staff, modernizing outdated oilfield equipment, and creating new management teams for key oil operations. These teams will handle specialized services to boost efficiency and ensure smooth project delivery.

The Minister also asked all oil companies in Iraq to work closely with the centre. He stressed that cooperation is necessary to increase oil output and improve the national economy. This collaboration will also help meet Iraq’s long-term development goals.

The New Oil Services Centre is designed to support both public and private sector interests. By strengthening private partnerships, it aims to create more jobs and attract new investments in the oil sector. The government sees this move as vital to long-term economic stability and energy growth.

This project highlights Iraq’s shift toward modern oil service infrastructure. It reflects the country’s commitment to managing its resources locally while preparing for future challenges in the global energy market.

In conclusion, as Iraq continues expanding its oil production, Basra’s role remains central. With this new centre in full operation, the city becomes even more important in securing Iraq’s energy leadership and long-term success in the region.
