Iraqi homebuyers in Turkiye made a notable comeback in July, strengthening Iraq’s position in the country’s foreign property market. Iraqi citizens purchased 144 homes during the month, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT). The figure marked a clear increase from the 98 properties bought in June. The latest results placed Iraq fourth among foreign buyers in Turkiye.
The July increase signals renewed interest among Iraqi purchasers after a weaker showing in June. The number of homes bought by Iraqis rose by 46 properties within one month. This change also lifted Iraq from sixth place in June to fourth place in July. The movement highlights continued demand from Iraqi investors seeking property across the Turkish market.
Iraqis also expanded their activity in the commercial property sector during July. They purchased eight commercial properties, compared with four in June. That figure represents a doubling of commercial purchases over the previous month. The rise suggests that Iraqi buyers continued to explore opportunities beyond residential housing.
Turkiye remains an important destination for international property buyers, including purchasers from neighboring Iraq. Geographic proximity gives Iraqi investors relatively easy access to the Turkish market. Many Iraqi buyers have also maintained long-standing commercial and personal connections with Turkiye. The latest figures show that this cross-border interest remains active.
The July data also shows how quickly buyer rankings can change within Turkiye’s foreign property market. Iraq’s jump from sixth to fourth place came alongside a substantial monthly increase. Iraqi homebuyers in Turkiye therefore played a stronger role in July’s foreign housing activity. Their purchases covered both residential and commercial properties.
The increase comes after Iraqi demand softened in June, when buyers acquired 98 homes. July’s total represents a significant recovery from that level. Commercial purchases followed the same direction, rising from four to eight properties. Together, the figures point to broader buying activity among Iraqi purchasers.
TURKSTAT’s figures provide a snapshot of foreign demand within Turkiye’s property sector. Monthly changes can reflect shifts in investment decisions and market conditions. However, July’s results clearly show stronger participation from Iraqi buyers. Iraqi homebuyers in Turkiye finished the month as the fourth-largest foreign buyer group.
The latest figures could attract further attention from property developers and market analysts. Iraqi investors remain an important segment of Turkiye’s international property market. Their July activity also demonstrates interest in both residential and commercial assets. Future monthly data will show whether this stronger pace continues
