Iraq has reached a historic milestone in olive oil production, with 2025 marking its highest-ever output. The Ministry of Agriculture announced this achievement, highlighting the country’s significant strides in its agricultural sector.
According to the ministry’s statement, oil extraction rates have surged to an impressive 18% across various olive varieties, including Picual, Gerafa, and Saint Catherine. This breakthrough is being celebrated as a significant advancement for Iraq’s olive oil industry.
The ministry attributed this success to three years of dedicated effort, including the adoption of improved harvesting methods and the use of specialized presses to enhance oil quality. Previously, extraction rates had stayed below 10%, making the recent improvements a clear sign of substantial progress in Iraq’s olive oil production.
This record-breaking achievement in 2025 showcases Iraq’s growing agricultural potential and marks a new chapter for the olive oil industry. The boost in both quality and quantity is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy in the coming years.
