Vallourec, the French industrial manufacturer, has strengthened its presence in Iraq by securing a new contract from TotalEnergies. The company will supply casing, tubing, and related equipment for 48 wells under the Associated Gas Upstream Project 2 (AGUP2).
AGUP2 is part of the larger Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), which aims to process oil and associated gas from the Ratawi oil field. The project targets a production capacity of roughly 210,000 barrels of oil per day and 154 million cubic feet of gas per day. It also supports Iraq’s efforts to end routine gas flaring and accelerate a low-carbon energy transition.
Previously, Vallourec delivered 15,000 tons of tubular goods to the first 30 wells. In this new phase, the company will provide over 30,000 tons of premium tubular solutions, including 3,000 tons of anti-corrosion coated line pipe. These solutions will enhance well integrity, extend equipment lifespan, and improve operational safety.
Therefore, the GGIP is led by TotalEnergies with partners Basra Oil Company and QatarEnergy. It ranks among Iraq’s most significant energy initiatives. The project focuses on recovering flaring gas from southern oil fields to generate electricity, redeveloping the Ratawi field, and constructing a 1-gigawatt solar power complex alongside a saltwater treatment facility.
Industry experts said the project will boost Iraq’s energy self-sufficiency, reduce environmental emissions, and enhance overall oil and gas production efficiency. By integrating solar power and cleaner gas recovery, the GGIP reflects Iraq’s commitment to sustainable energy development and long-term economic growth.
Vallourec’s role in supplying high-quality tubular products demonstrates the company’s technical expertise and commitment to supporting major international energy projects in Iraq. With this contract, Vallourec reinforces its strategic position in the country’s oil and gas sector and strengthens partnerships with global energy leaders like TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy.
