Turkiye: Iraqi Home Demand Surges Past 1,000 Purchases

Iraqi home demand grows strongly in Turkiye as buyers push past 1,000 property purchases this year. The real estate market shows steady movement, and many Iraqi families continue to search for new homes across several Turkish cities. Iraqi home demand shapes the ongoing trend, and it influences the wider foreign housing market.

Iraqis buy more than 1,000 homes during the first ten months of the year. Their purchases change from month to month as different factors shape the market. In January, buyers secure 103 homes. Then February sees 99 purchases. March follows with 72 purchases. April shows a slight dip with 70 homes. Activity then rises again, and May records 104 purchases. June slows to 97 purchases, yet the following months show stronger demand.

July records 120 homes, and August follows with 118 homes. September marks one of the strongest months with 146 purchases. October continues the strong trend with 126 homes. These numbers show clear movement, and many analysts expect more shifts as the year continues. Iraqi home demand remains one of the strongest foreign buying forces in Turkiye.

The yearly comparison shows steady growth. Iraqi buyers increase their purchases by 3.6% compared with the same period last year. This increase shows confidence in the Turkish housing market. However, the total remains far below 2023 levels. In that year, Iraqis bought 1,733 properties. Many factors change since then, including exchange rates, living costs, and market rules. These factors shape new decisions and direct buying patterns.

Foreign buyers from other countries also show strong interest. Russians record 2,835 purchases, giving them the top position. Iranians follow with 1,499 homes. Ukrainians take third place with 1,189 purchases, and Germans buy 1,120 homes. These numbers show strong competition across the foreign real estate market.

Iraqis once held the top position for many years. They dominated Turkiye’s foreign real estate market from 2015 onward. However, changes start in early 2021 when Iranians move into first place. Then April 2022 shows another shift as Russian buyers surge strongly. These changes create new rankings and increase competition each year. Iraqi home demand stays strong despite these shifts, and many real estate experts expect continued activity.

Many Iraqis choose Turkiye for several reasons. They like the location, the lifestyle, and the investment value. They also enjoy simple travel routes and cultural closeness. These reasons push families, investors, and business owners to explore new properties in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya. The trend continues as more Iraqis look for safe investments and stable environments.
