Kurdistan Region Launches Digital Driving License Service via KRDPass

The Kurdistan Region expands digital services as it launches digital driving license access through KRDPass. The Interior Ministry introduced the new feature to modernize public services. Drivers across the region can now access their licenses electronically.

Officials announced that KRDPass works as a secure electronic portal. The application allows users to store and display official documents. Drivers who recently received new licenses can retrieve a full digital copy inside the app. As a result, motorists gain faster and easier access to their permits.

The ministry confirmed that KRDPass is available on both Android and iOS devices. After downloading the app, users complete a registration process. Then, newly licensed drivers can immediately view their permit in digital form. This process reduces reliance on physical cards.

Moreover, drivers can present the digital license at traffic checkpoints. If someone forgets the physical card, the electronic version serves as proof. Traffic officers can verify the displayed information directly. Therefore, the system improves efficiency during inspections.

Authorities describe the move as part of a wider digital transformation strategy. Leaders want to expand electronic government services across the Kurdistan Region. By doing so, they aim to reduce paperwork and speed up administrative procedures. In addition, digital systems help protect documents from damage or loss.

The current rollout applies to newly issued licenses. However, officials may expand the service later to include older permits. For now, the ministry encourages eligible drivers to activate their digital copy through KRDPass.

This step places the Kurdistan Region among governments adopting modern digital tools. Many countries now rely on mobile platforms to deliver public services. Consequently, regional authorities seek to match international standards in digital governance.

Overall, the new service enhances convenience for drivers. It also reflects the region’s commitment to innovation and public service improvement.
