Iraq among top importers continued to boost its trade relationship with Turkiye by increasing imports in recent months. In May alone, Iraq imported over $1.1 billion worth of Turkish products. This strong trade figure placed Iraq as the fifth-largest importer of Turkish goods during the month.
Additionally, the latest data came from the Turkish Statistical Institute. It showed Turkiye’s total exports reached $24.82 billion in May. This marked a 2.6% increase compared to the same month last year. At the same time, Turkish imports grew to $31.46 billion, which also reflected a 2.7% annual rise.
Therefore, Germany topped the list of export destinations for Turkish goods. It imported $2.1 billion in products from Turkiye. The United Kingdom came second with $1.52 billion, followed closely by the United States at $1.51 billion. Italy ranked fourth with $1.22 billion. Iraq claimed the fifth spot with $1.12 billion in imports.
Moreover, Iraq among top importers clearly defines this growing trade role. In fact, the top five countries together received over 30% of all Turkish exports for the month. This concentration of trade highlights strong and stable partnerships between Turkiye and these nations.
