The Iraq Stock Exchange trading volume experienced a strong surge, signaling rising market activity. The exchange reported a total trading value exceeding 7.8 billion Iraqi dinars, which equals more than $5.5 million. This marked a 34% increase compared to the previous week.
In total, investors traded shares from 61 companies. However, 35 listed firms did not record any trades. This was due to unmatched buy and sell orders. Eight companies stayed suspended from trading because they failed to provide mandatory disclosures. In total, 104 firms are listed on the exchange.
Trading volume jumped by 150%, reaching over 5.4 billion shares. This increase happened through 4,438 individual transactions. Many investors, both local and international, contributed to this busy week, showing strong interest in market opportunities and confidence in Iraq’s financial sector growth.
The Iraq Stock Exchange trading volume boost also pushed the ISX60 index slightly higher. It closed at 979.85 points, up 0.61% from the previous week. The ISX60 tracks the most active and influential companies listed on the exchange.
Foreign investors became more active in the market. They bought 128 million shares, worth around 527 million Iraqi dinars, across 82 deals. At the same time, they sold 307 million shares, valued at 645 million dinars, in only 11 transactions. These moves show growing interest from international traders in Iraq’s stock market.
It features companies in sectors like banking, telecommunications, insurance, tourism, services, industry, and agriculture. The wide variety of sectors allows for diverse investment opportunities, attracting both local and global investors. This diversity helps reduce risk and supports long-term stability.
