Iraq Seismic Survey Reaches 98% Completion

The progress of the Iraq seismic survey reached 98 percent in a major exploration project near Fallujah. The project supports new oil and gas exploration in Anbar province.

The Oil Exploration Company reported strong advancement in the two-dimensional seismic survey programme. The survey takes place north of Fallujah as part of national energy exploration efforts.

The project operates for the Midland Oil Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Oil. Officials launched the programme to expand geological and geophysical data across Iraq.

According to the company, teams executed 1,775.55 kilometers of seismic lines so far. The total planned distance for the project equals 1,809.65 kilometers. Therefore, the Iraq seismic survey progress now exceeds 98 percent of the target distance.

Engineers also recorded 36,193 energy points during the survey operations. These points help specialists analyze underground structures and geological formations.

Field teams started the project earlier and continued operations across several challenging areas. The survey zone covers agricultural land and regions with rivers and small streams.

Because of these conditions, engineers divided the project area into three operational sections. As well as, this approach allows teams to manage terrain difficulties and maintain steady work progress.

The Iraq seismic survey progress reflects the efforts of technical crews and field engineers. Workers installed sensors and monitoring equipment along long survey lines across the province.

Specialized vehicles generated controlled seismic energy signals underground. Sensors then captured reflected waves from geological layers below the surface. Experts analyze these signals to understand underground structures.

This information helps scientists locate potential oil and gas reservoirs. Therefore, accurate seismic data plays a crucial role in exploration planning.

Energy authorities continue expanding geological studies across different regions of the country. These studies aim to improve national resource mapping and support future energy investments.

Anbar province remains an important region for exploration research. The province contains large areas that remain under-explored compared with southern oil fields.

Because of this potential, energy planners continue investing in surveys and geological mapping. The Iraq seismic survey progress marks an important step toward identifying new hydrocarbon resources.

Officials expect the survey results to support future exploration drilling programmes. Energy companies will analyze the collected data to determine promising structures for oil and gas development.

In addition, the project strengthens Iraq’s long-term energy strategy. Reliable geological data helps planners reduce exploration risks and improve investment decisions.

As the survey approaches completion, specialists will begin detailed interpretation of the seismic results. Researchers will evaluate underground formations and identify possible drilling targets.

Therefore, the Iraq seismic survey progress represents an important milestone in expanding Iraq’s exploration database. The results may open new opportunities for oil and gas discoveries in western Iraq.
