Iraq ranked third in February 2025 among foreign buyers of Turkish real estate, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).
Home sales in Turkey increased by 20.1% year-on-year in February, reaching 112,818 units. However, sales to foreign buyers fell by 21.1% compared to February 2024, with 1,457 properties purchased by non-Turkish nationals.
Russians led the foreign market with 256 homes, followed by Iranians with 133 properties. Iraqis purchased 99 homes, securing third place, while Azerbaijanis bought 87 homes to take fourth. Ukrainians followed with 86 homes, and Germans ranked sixth with 81. Other countries in the top ten included Kazakhstan (46), Afghanistan (37), China (35), and the UK (32).
Iraqis have historically been among the top foreign property buyers in Turkey. However, they dropped to second place behind Iranians in early 2021 and fell to third place in April 2022 after Russia surged to the top of the market.
