The government worked closely with international partners on this report. These include the UN Development Programme and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative. However together, they created a detailed tool that reflects the real situation of Iraqi families.
The Iraq multidimensional poverty reform also focuses on gender and children’s rights. As well as Iraq plans to release a women’s poverty index soon. this new index will monitor women’s access to health care, education, and decent living conditions.
Iraq already launched a child poverty index in 2022. The government will update this in 2026. So these tools show Iraq’s leadership in the Arab world on inclusive development policies.
The new data comes from recent national household surveys. It provides reliable and current figures to help reduce poverty in a smarter way. So with this new approach, Iraq targets root causes instead of short-term fixes.
Ministry officials praised the work of national statistical offices and their regional counterparts. However Their cooperation ensures high-quality data that meets global standards.
