The German Embassy in Iraq confirmed on Sunday that trade between Iraq and Germany reached approximately 1.7 billion euros in 2024.
Roland Westebbe, Deputy Director of the German Embassy Mission in Iraq, highlighted that Germany aims to further increase its trade with Iraq. Over the past four years, Germany has seen a 10% increase in exports to Iraq.
Westebbe noted that Iraq is now seen as a promising market and has become a key focus for investment, with strong business potential between the two countries.
German companies are eager to enter the Iraqi market. Siemens, for example, is playing a significant role in Iraq’s energy and electricity generation sector, while Eriduaz is involved in smart identity technology.
Germany has also been a key contributor to Iraq’s reconstruction following the defeat of ISIS, particularly in housing construction. Several German Foreign Ministry-affiliated organizations are also focusing on initiatives to support Iraq’s economic sector.
