Iraq factory restarts, Iraq’s industrial sector is seeing a strong revival. On Wednesday, the Iraqi Federation of Industries announced that more than 5,600 factories have resumed operations, thanks to direct government support.
Adel Akab, Chairman of the Federation, stated that the relaunch of these factories happened over the past two years. He credited this growth to the government’s focus on reviving national production through consistent support. These reopened factories are now actively producing and supplying goods to Iraqi markets.
New industrial projects are also underway across the country. Akab revealed that Iraq now sees weekly openings of new factories. Many of these openings take place under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister or a representative. This shows how seriously the government treats the industrial sector.
According to Akab, the Prime Minister makes no distinction between large or small initiatives. Every industrial project, regardless of size, receives equal attention. This approach encourages both major investors and small business owners to enter the market.
Iraq’s government has positioned national industry as a cornerstone of long-term economic development. Officials believe industrial expansion can reduce import dependence and create jobs for the growing population.
Akab also emphasized that industry cannot grow alone. He explained that Iraq’s industrial strength must align with improvements in agriculture, trade, and education. These sectors form a connected system that must grow together to achieve sustainable development.
The Federation believes this integrated strategy will build a strong economy over time. The private sector also plays a key role. Government cooperation with private investors helps increase innovation, funding, and job creation.
Across Iraq, factories are being built or restarted in various regions. These facilities produce a wide range of goods, including food products, construction materials, electronics, and household items. Their return helps reduce Iraq’s reliance on imports, which has long been a challenge for the country’s economy.
Looking ahead, the Federation expects more factories to begin operating soon. Strong leadership, active policy support, and public-private partnerships continue to push Iraq’s industrial recovery forward.
This renewed focus on national production signals a major shift in Iraq’s economic direction. The government sees industry as a critical tool for job creation, economic independence, and future growth.
