Natural gas output in the Middle East grew by 2.2% in 2024, reaching 741 billion cubic meters.
Taqa, an energy platform, reports that the increase was mainly driven by Qatar and Iran. Iraq, Oman, and the UAE also contributed to the rise.
The region’s gas production is expected to rise by 66.5%, reaching 1.15 trillion cubic meters by 2050. This is up from 694 billion cubic meters in 2023.
By 2030, production in the Middle East is projected to grow by 21%, reaching 841 billion cubic meters. It is expected to rise further to 996 billion cubic meters by 2040.
In 2023, the Middle East accounted for 17% of global gas production. This share is forecast to increase to 22% by 2050.
Global gas output totaled 4.078 trillion cubic meters in 2023. It is set to grow by 31%, reaching 5.317 trillion cubic meters by 2050.
