The General Directorate of Industrial Development (GDID), part of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, issued 230 establishment licences for new industrial projects. These licences cover food, chemical, metal, construction, textile, and engineering industries.
Director General Ali Ibrahim Janaan confirmed that licences were spread across 15 governorates. Baghdad recorded the highest with 66 licences, followed by Nineveh with 26 and Anbar with 24. Basra received 23 licences, while other provinces such as Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Babil, Karbala, Dhi Qar, Najaf, Diyala, Wasit, Sulaymaniyah, Diwaniyah, Erbil, Maysan, and Muthanna received the remaining allocations.
In addition, the directorate issued 43 certificates of completion for industrial projects meeting legal requirements under Industrial Investment Law No. 20 of 1998. These certificates recognize compliance and operational readiness, supporting transparency in industrial development.
Furthermore, the GDID provided other essential services. These included renewal of industrial IDs, reactivation of licences, and electronic field inspections to monitor project compliance. Such measures aim to improve regulatory adherence while encouraging investment.
