Iraq strengthens its healthcare system, and Iraq hospital expansion now reaches Baghdad’s Central Children’s Hospital. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani opened the third phase of rehabilitation, restoring the hospital to 400 beds. This upgrade improves treatment and care for children. Moreover, it increases the hospital’s capacity to handle more patients each day. The government continues to prioritize healthcare development across the country.
The rehabilitation project added 86 beds and upgraded paediatric wards. It also improved units for infectious diseases, respiratory conditions, surgery, and intensive care. Moreover, these upgrades allow doctors to treat more patients safely. The hospital now handles over 300 outpatient consultations daily. Around 100 emergency cases receive care each day, and staff perform approximately 60 surgeries every day. These improvements reduce waiting times and increase medical efficiency.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted that the Central Children’s Hospital is one of Baghdad’s most important specialised facilities. He noted that the Service and Engineering Effort Team implemented the rehabilitation project. Their work ensures high-quality medical services. Furthermore, these upgrades create a safer and more modern environment for children and staff.
The Prime Minister also said that Iraq opened 22 hospitals over the past three years. However, current projects aim to reach 60,000 hospital beds nationwide. As well as, these include new 100-bed hospitals and larger facilities with capacities of 400 beds or more. The government plans to complete these projects across several provinces.
