Baghdad International Airport Development Plan Advances with 26 Ongoing Projects

The Ministry of Transport has confirmed that the development plan for Baghdad International Airport is progressing, with 26 projects currently in the works. The announcement was made on Saturday by the Ministry’s spokesman, Maitham Al-Safi.

Al-Safi emphasized that the initiative, which began in mid-2024, is part of a broader effort to upgrade Iraq’s airports. The plan is being carried out under the direction of Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, through the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation Management.

Baghdad International Airport is receiving a significant portion of the attention, with 26 ongoing projects focused on improving the airport’s infrastructure and services. These efforts aim to modernize the airport, enhancing both its facilities and overall efficiency to provide a better experience for passengers.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has previously highlighted the importance of adhering to international standards in the development process. His directive stresses the need for high specifications to improve services for citizens and overcome challenges faced during the projects. This approach aims to ensure that the projects are completed on time and meet the approved standards.

These ongoing efforts are part of Iraq’s broader goal to modernize its infrastructure, and Baghdad International Airport is set to benefit greatly from these improvements.
